Northern Territory – Uluru, Sunrise at Ayers Rock

A oase in the middle of nowhere

Found a job as a cleaner on a cattle station in Arnhemland. Two and a half hours from Katherine in the middle of nowhere. I'm very curious about what I got myself into this time. First impression of my new work place: very nice family and workers, faszinating landscape and moonrises. Very positive, I guess, I'll like it!

My daily routine:

06:30 amGetting up and helping with breakfast

08:00 amClearing the table and doing the dishes

08:30 amCleaning the mens quarters and the house

01:30 pmLunch: setting + clearing the table

02:30 pmSmall extra task like cleaning the car or some gardening

03:00 pmknock off

The rest of the team arrived at home at about 05:30 pm and we usually went fishing or shooting or kajaking together. During my stay at Mainoru station I learned a lot of things and I even caught my first fish (a Barramundi weighing eight pounds). I had a go shooting a .20 magnum, aiming for a cardboard box and I learned how to ride a quad bike! I could go on for ages telling you stories about my time on Mainoru station but it'll be too much for my little website. After five fabulous weeks I had to say goodbye to everyone to continue my journey.
